Showroom Ceiling

back to projects

Overview

A false ceiling over a showroom with its lighting concealed in it, set out before the floor fit-out so the two could not argue with each other later. The ceiling grid and the lighting positions were drawn on the slab together, which is the last point at which a change to either is still cheap.

The Challenges

A lighting layout that could not be confirmed until the floor was known, an access requirement that a fully concealed ceiling makes difficult, and a grid that had to land on the columns rather than start where it liked.

The Engineering Solution

The grid and the lighting set out together on the slab, access panels agreed before the first sheet was fixed, and every tile cut around the structure rather than trimmed to it.
